Privacy Policy

This privacy policy outlines how I, Terese Jonsson, a sole trader operating as write/connect, collect and process your personal information. If you have any questions or concerns about how I manage your personal information, please feel free to email me on terese@write-connect.co.uk.

This policy was last updated on 17 September 2025.

What type of information do I collect?

In relation to clients and potential clients, I currently collect and process:

  • personal information, such as name, email address, postal address and (potentially) job/employer details;
  • information that relates to your written work and the text that you have approached me to edit;
  • any personal information about you that is contained within text that you have sent for me to edit;
  • our email correspondence.

In relation to this website, I currently collect and process:

  • information collected through cookies (see below);
  • email addresses of individuals who opt in to join my mailing list (see below).

The only financial information I hold about clients is the amount that I have charged you for my services. I do not collect or hold any other financial information about you.

Why do I collect personal information?

I collect and process personal information in order to:

  • respond to enquiries about work;
  • contact clients with queries when I am working on a project for them;
  • send invoices to clients;
  • send emails to mailing list members;
  • enable certain functions on this website;
  • understand how visitors use this website.

I will never share your personal information with anyone else or use it for marketing purposes without your express permission.

How do I get the information?

Most of the personal information I hold has been provided directly by you via email or through other forms of communication. If we meet in person, via video or telephone call, I may take brief notes of information that is relevant for me to hold in relation to our work together.

Cookies

As described by All About Cookies:

A cookie contains information which is stored by the browser on your computer. When the browser receives a request for the cookie it sends that information back to the server.

I use information from cookies to learn how people find and use my website. Specifically, I use Google Analytics (Google’s Privacy Policy is available here). This enables me to see information such as how users have found my website and where they are located geographically. I do not receive any personally identifying information through cookies.

If you do not want cookies to be stored on your computer, you can change your web browser’s cookie settings. However, please note that this may affect how this and other website functions.

To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites, visit this link.

How I store your information

I store personal information:

  • in my password-protected email account;
  • in my password-protected Dropbox account;
  • on the hard drive of my password-protected computer;
  • on the WordPress platform using the MailPoet plugin (for mailing list only; see below).

You can access Dropbox’s privacy policy here.

All personal information is stored electronically and I do not keep any personal information on paper.

I treat your written work with confidentiality and do not share it with anyone else. I may at times print copies of the text that I am editing for you while I am working on it. I shred this paperwork upon completion of the project.

Mailing list

I use the MailPoet WordPress plugin to send newsletters to my mailing list subscribers, so mailing list subscribers’ emails are stored and processed by MailPoet/Wordpress.

I will only store email addresses of individuals who have signed up for my newsletter (either by completing the form on my website, or by asking me directly to be added to the mailing list). Your email can be removed from the list at any time – either by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ option at the bottom of each newsletter or by asking me directly.

How long do I store your information?

As I often work with the same clients on several occasions, I do not usually delete personal information.

HMRC (the UK tax agency) requires me to keep financial records for five years after the last filing date for any given year. This means I am required by law to keep copies of invoices that I have sent to you for this minimum period.

If you would like me to delete your personal information, please contact me and I am happy to do so, as long as I can still meet the legal requirements of the HMRC.
